Especially to businesses and what they are capable off?</em> Read-onβ¦ to reveal some facts about, Gen-Z!</p> <p><strong><em>So, who are Gen-Z? </em></strong></p> <p>Born somewhere between the mid 1990βs and early 2000βs, the kids (now teens or adolescents), form a massive part of the worldβs population. Imagine the buying power of these βlittle adultsβ who are growing to be tomorrowβs trendsetters β unfathomable yet.</p> <p><strong><em>What should you know about them? Business-wiseβ¦</em></strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>That they have βThe Powerβ to buy</strong> β an average teen spends much of his pocket money on online purchases of a variety of products (ranging from apparel to footwear to jewelry, just about everything). But, they also put their money where their values are β their beliefs are as good as their dollars!</li> <li><strong>They need personal attention</strong> <strong>but yet are protective of their privacy! β</strong> attention to detail β attention catering to their varying tastes. They look for highly personalized interactions for their purchases and though crave for hyperpersonal interaction, they are not keen to share their personal information.</li> <li><strong>They value individual unique expressions and they give instant feedback </strong>β They are open about expressing their individual identity and telling you what works and what does not- which just makes it that more of a dearer experience to them. If you need to change your outlook or line of thought, get personal with Gen-Z and you will be pleasantly surprised by the outcome!</li> <li><strong>They are smart shoppers. Beware!</strong> They can compare, spend hours researching on that perfect black tuxedo (example) - the exact material, the height and weight and the color they want and hence can knock you down in seconds with their information. One must be super confident what content is put out along with accurate information for business success.</li> <li><strong>Virtual world is their fantasy come true.</strong> They are literally βmobileβ β everything via their smartphone is what they do. They like new brands, new concepts, creative campaigns and interactive programs. The more creative your business is the more you will engage this Gen-Z. Even apps like TikTok, SnapChat and similar ones have their interests gripped.</li> <li><strong>Advertisement in all forms is ok with them.</strong> Gen-Z are drawn to advertisements and are more likely to check on these ads when they are on their favorite social-media channel. They have a knack of using different network to satiate their shopping journeys. So, next time when you are making that ad, keep in mind the channel you will use to tap this potential lot.</li> <li><strong>Diversity is the key</strong> β A more inclusive way of putting out your products, draws their attention. They disregard bias and are more comfortable with liberal minded markets.</li> <li><strong>They are optimistic</strong>. A very good factor to tap. Surveys show that Gen-Z are optimistic that they can do better than Gen-X (read βtheir parentsβ) given that they are responsible and are financially capable. And they do this confidently and conveniently through mediums of social media. Even though they welcome personal interaction with businesses, they respect it if their privacy is protected. They can also be guarded and use aliases to get a βfeelβ of the experience before they give themselves away. This means careful treading is the key to gain their confidence and turn them to loyal customers.</li> <li><strong>Open-ended options. </strong>Some might want an option-out and some option-in, depending on how and where your ad has been placed. They like to wield the power to βskipβ, βwatchβ and βreplayβ your ads at their whims.</li> <li><strong>They love their celebs. </strong>But, they do look for genuine products of endorsements by these celebrities. Choosing the celebrity wisely is the key to get the required eyeballs to your business.</li> <li><strong>Gender factor</strong>. Yes, we are talking about Gen-Z and gender factor in the same line. It is just to do with what kind of online platforms each gender chooses and nothing more. (<em>Dare to try this yet?</em>)</li> <li>Germans feel toasting with plain water is a bad omen bringing misfortune or death even! (Just so you know, Germany is known as a drinking country β so this is rather believable to say the least)</li> <li>Indians donβt launch any sales campaigns or new businesses during the month of βPitru Pakshaβ or βHomage to Ancestorβs monthβ! (I am sure you are waiting with a list that India follows :))</li> <li>France believes that placing bread upside down will bring poverty and hunger!</li> <li>Nigerians swear that one will turn to stone if they pick up money off the ground! (This I must see in my lifetime)</li> <li>Koreans feel that shaking your leg or fidgeting will make you lose money or the deal! (Well, this is also considered ill-mannered so not much of a superstition here I think)</li> <li>Americans check solar eclipses for their stock indices! (This is proven true by some and of course there are a zillion research theories surrounding this)</li> <li>And the number 13 β I think this is a common belief across almost all countries β anything to do with the number 13 is considered bad luck / omen. Now what kind of strangers do you want for your business? Key here is to use content cleverly to attract the right kind. It is an alternative News FeedΒ which is designed to help users discover interesting and relevant content outside of their existing networks - like Friends and Pages they follow. Plus, it allows a streamlined flow of information from pages that users arenβt yet connected with. The name is intelligently coined as it allows users to "explore" new content, without leaving Facebook.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><strong>Where to find it?</strong></em> On your Facebook profile, you can find it on the left side menu. While on the mobile app, it is way down in the βmoreβ section. This is found only on personal profiles and not on βBusiness Pagesβ or any βPagesβ as such.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><strong>What does it do?</strong> </em>It has been kept free from advertisements - so that is good news for serious content finders. However, it provides a new way of portraying content that may be of relevance to the user based on their interests. Unlike the traditional News Feed which sometimes auto-filters what it notifies the user, this new feature helps the user to concentrate on the pages alone along with all their content.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">What is interesting is how this new feature helps one expand their connections, especially with brands β as it encompasses feeds from varied pages based on user interest. Literally this βcustomizesβ to individual needs, slowly making it a popularly liked feature.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><strong>What does it do to your brand?</strong></em> Well, if one is relying on Facebook for creating and maintaining brand awareness, let me tell you this new feature does not hinder the normal News Feed in any way. But if you want your brand to be on the βexplore feedβ listing, then I suggest to gear up with good creative content that might pique users to βlikeβ and hence the feed to pick it up.
